ECHA update web system, EU-REACH registrants will be a one-stop update registration information!

Recently, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced that REACH registrants can use a one-stop service to keep REACH registration files up to date.

According to the relevant requirements, the REACH registration needs to reflect the latest safe use information, and the registrant is responsible for providing this information. Both the primary registrant and the member registrant are required to keep the information in the joint registration section up to date. Currently, ECHA has updated the web page to help registrants with this task.

ECHA's updated web page explains the circumstances in which registration needs to be updated and how the deadline is determined. It can also assist with updates, such as providing instructions on how to update previously notified substances (NONS) and links to useful guidance documents and manuals.

The REACH registration dossier must reflect the knowledge of how to safely use the substance by users at the production site and throughout the supply chain, which means that there is still a lot of work to be done after the registrant has successfully submitted the registration and received the registration number.

The REACH registrant must update the registration information or participate in the update of part of the joint registration information in the following cases:

* Changes in the understanding of the substance or its use, such as higher tonnage ranges, new uses, changes in the composition of the substance, etc;

* receipt of an assessment decision requesting the addition of information to the registration;

* Changes that will affect the update of the registration file;

* Changes in the information requirements for chemicals registered under REACH may affect the updating of the dossier. Registrants should also take note of the changes to the harmonized classification and labeling of hazardous substances through the "Adaptation to Technological Advances (ATP)" update and published annually by the European Commission.

* ECHA may conduct IT screening activities on archives to highlight areas of registration that can be improved. Therefore, ECHA may remind registrants to update their registration files to address outstanding issues and improve the quality of data submitted in the future. However, registrants are still responsible for keeping their data up to date. Registrants should treat the dossier as a "living document" and update it as new information becomes available.
