Ten Explosion-proof Measures for Dangerous Chemicals

Hazardous chemicals are dangerous and explosive, and there are huge potential safety hazards in daily safety production. In order to prevent hazardous chemicals from exploding and other hazards, you should do the following ten points.
1 Basic measures
(1) Control of combustibles:
Stores with inflammable and explosive hazardous substances shall be constructed with fire-resistant buildings to prevent the spread of flame;
Reduce the concentration of combustible gas, steam and dust in the reservoir area so that it does not exceed the maximum allowable concentration;
All items that can interact with each other by nature shall be stored separately.
(2) Isolation of air:
Isolated air storage of some chemical flammable items, such as sodium stored in kerosene, phosphorus stored in dry water, carbon disulfide water closed storage.
(3) Remove ignition source:
Remove the ignition source, isolate the fire source, control the temperature, ground, protect the lightning, install the explosion-proof lamp, block the sunlight, etc., to prevent the combustible materials from catching fire due to open flame or temperature increase.
2 Fire control
Control the ignition source on the maintenance or construction site, including open flame, impact friction, natural heating, electric spark, electrostatic spark, etc;
It is forbidden to use open flame in the reservoir area with fire and explosion danger;
Hot work permit shall be obtained for open fire operation such as electric and gas welding due to special circumstances;
Clear flammable and combustible materials in the hot work area; configure fire fighting equipment. Hot work construction personnel must be certified.
3 Friction and impact control
Maintain good lubrication during the operation of auxiliary facilities and pumps, and remove the attached combustible dirt in time;
When handling metal containers containing combustible gas and flammable liquid, avoid mutual collision and throw them, so as to avoid fire and explosion accidents caused by spark or container burst. Personnel entering and leaving the container shall not wear shoes with nails.
When loading, unloading, handling, light unloading, anti-vibration, impact friction, heavy pressure and dumping.
4 Natural heat control
Oil rags, oil cotton yarn, etc. are likely to cause fire, so they should be put into metal containers, placed in safe areas and cleaned up in time.
5 Electric spark control
The main low-voltage electrical equipment used in the reservoir area will often produce short-term arc discharge and weak sparks on the contacts, which will pose a danger to combustible gas, flammable liquid vapor and explosive dust with low ignition energy. Therefore, explosion-proof type should be selected for electrical equipment and wiring.
6 electrostatic spark control
Some friends may think that static electricity is a small matter and do not take it to heart. That would be a big mistake!
The most serious static electricity can lead to combustible combustion and explosion, especially for combustible gas or steam with small ignition energy. In places with gasoline, benzene, hydrogen and other places, special attention should be paid to static hazards. Personnel entering and leaving the country should wear anti-static work clothes. The flow rate should be controlled during pipeline transportation. The bulk chemical tank truck should have reliable static grounding parts and detect and alarm the static grounding resistance, the entire system should suppress static electricity generation or quickly export static electricity.
7 Other fire source control
Avoid direct sunlight and configure corresponding cooling measures;
Indoor warehouse to avoid long-term baking of high-power lighting, the use of cold light source;
Fireworks are strictly prohibited in the reservoir area;
Prohibit the use of handling tools that may produce sparks;
It is strictly prohibited to use non-explosion-proof mobile phones.
8 to prevent the spread of flame and blast wave
The function of the fire retardant device is to prevent the flame from entering the equipment, containers and pipelines, or to prevent the flame from expanding in the equipment and pipelines. Common fire retardant equipment has safety water seal, flame arrester and one-way valve.
Transportation vehicles entering the flammable and explosive reservoir area shall be inspected with "three certificates" and equipped with fireproof cover and small fireproof equipment.
For storage facilities with pressure, the pressure relief device is an important safety device for fire and explosion prevention, including safety valve, rupture disc and vent pipe.
9 Other considerations
When storing unstable olefins and diolefins, measures should be taken to prevent self-polymerization, because the self-polymerization process will release heat and increase the risk of fire and explosion.
Indicating devices, such as pressure gauges (liquefied gas storage, etc.), thermometers, level gauges and high-level alarms (flammable liquid storage tanks), can be used for regular inspection or calibration and verification. In addition, the tank area should also be set up lightning protection, anti-static device, once a year to detect.
10 Emergency Equipment
In the key parts prone to fire and explosion, the automatic monitoring system of combustible gas, fire alarm device and fire extinguishing sprinkler device are installed (because liquid chemicals are mostly lighter than water, fire extinguishing with water will lead to the expansion of fire range), regular maintenance or testing, calibration, equipped with rescue equipment should have explosion-proof function.
According to different storage materials and storage conditions, the emergency plan is formulated.
