National Fire Day is coming! Common sense of fire safety in university/enterprise laboratory

Release time:

2021-10-27 13:34

November 9 is China's National Fire Day. Recently, fire accidents occur frequently in various places. We need to master basic fire prevention knowledge and skills.

Laboratory is the key prevention unit of fire safety in colleges and universities. Generally speaking, laboratory fire accidents are mainly caused by weak fire safety awareness, illegal operation and lack of fire safety knowledge.

Below we are chemical enterprise laboratory safety hazards and laboratory safety management for a brief analysis of the introduction.

Security risks

1.

Common flammable and explosive materials in laboratory

Chemical laboratories, especially organic chemistry laboratories, are more prone to fire accidents. Most fire accidents are caused by improper operation when heating or handling low boiling point organic solvents. Therefore, it is necessary to keep in mind common flammable and explosive materials.

■ Flammable liquid: such as benzene, toluene, methanol, ethanol, petroleum ether, acetone, etc.

■ Burning explosive solids: light metals such as potassium and sodium.

Strong oxidants: ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, perchloric acid, sodium peroxide, hydrogen peroxide, dibenzoyl peroxide, etc.

Combustible gas: Some combustible gas is mixed with air or oxygen and will explode under certain conditions.

2.

Laboratory domestic demand for safe electricity

■ The installation of laboratory electrical appliances and their circuits shall comply with the requirements of relevant national standards such as the Code for Construction and Acceptance of Electrical Equipment Installation Engineering.

■ Electrical equipment is equipped with sufficient power wires and sockets, and is properly connected to zero or ground.

■ Do not pull and connect wires randomly, and do not have exposed wire ends; It is forbidden to plug in multiple power loads on one socket or mobile wiring board; Items shall not be stacked in the power switch box to avoid electric shock or combustion.

■ Keep hands dry when using electrical equipment.

■ If there are hydrogen, gas and other flammable and explosive gases in the room, we should be alert to the occurrence of electric sparks and static electricity in the laboratory. When the relay is working and the switch is on and off, it is easy to produce electric sparks, so special attention should be paid to it; when the contact point of the electrical appliance (such as the electrical plug) is not in good contact, it should be repaired or replaced in time.

■ During the experiment, confirm that the instruments and equipment are in good condition and then switch on the power supply. After the experiment, turn off the instruments and equipment first, and then turn off the power supply. When repairing or installing equipment, the power supply should be cut off first.

3.

Laboratory fire protection requirements

■ The laboratory must store a certain number of fire fighting equipment, and placed in an eye-catching location for easy access, and designated personnel management.

■ All flammable and explosive materials stored in the laboratory must be kept at a certain distance from the fire source and its power supply, and must not be piled up for use and storage at will.

■ When the operation is easy to pour flammable liquid, it should be kept away from the fire source and heating flammable liquid must be carried out on the water bath or sealed electric heating plate, it is strictly prohibited to use flame or stove direct heating.

■ Flammable liquid waste should be placed in special containers for collection to avoid explosion accidents.

■ It is forbidden to use high-power electrical appliances without permission.

4.

4. Precautions for laboratory fire fighting

■ Fire extinguishing principle:
Remove or isolate the source of fuel, isolate air (oxygen), reduce the temperature, and adopt different fire fighting methods for fires caused by different substances.

■ Fire fighting emergency measures:

a. To prevent the fire from spreading, first cut off the power supply, extinguish all heating equipment, quickly remove nearby combustibles, close the ventilation device, and reduce air circulation.

B, immediately extinguish the flame, try to cut off the air, so that the temperature drops below the ignition point of combustible materials.

C, fire extinguisher can be used when the fire is large.

■ Fire extinguishing precautions:

A. Precautions for fire extinguishing with water: when substances that can violently interact with water catch fire, do not use water to extinguish the fire; When flammable and combustible liquids lighter than water, insoluble in water, or flammable and combustible liquids soluble in water or slightly soluble in water catch fire, it is forbidden to use water to put out the fire; flammable and combustible liquids that are insoluble in water and have a specific gravity greater than water can be put out with water.

B. When electrical equipment and wires are on fire, first use carbon tetrachloride fire extinguisher to put out the fire, and then use water to put out the fire after the power supply is cut off.

C, reflux heating, if the condensation effect is not good, flammable vapor in the top of the condenser fire, should first cut off the heating source, and then put out.

D, put out the fire that produces toxic vapor, pay special attention to anti-virus.

Laboratory Safety Management of Chemical Enterprises

1, the laboratory should establish and improve the safety management system, and set up a safety organization

The safety management system that the laboratory should establish mainly includes the responsibility system for safe production, the safety responsibilities of safety personnel at all levels, the safe operation procedures of instruments, the common sense of electricity safety, the storage standards of chemical reagents, the safety precautions for sampling, and the first aid measures for poisoning. On the basis of the establishment and improvement of the system, we should pay close attention to the implementation of various systems and assign responsibility to people.

The laboratory safety organization is mainly composed of the person in charge of the laboratory and the squad leaders of each class, and is mainly responsible for the following tasks:

Monitor the daily situation of the responsible work area, study the safety measures, eliminate the hidden dangers of accidents and prevent the occurrence of accidents.

Regularly inspect the responsible work area to ensure the implementation of various rules and regulations and stop violations.

Organize staff to learn knowledge of safety knowledge and regulations, physical and chemical characteristics of hazardous chemicals, toxicology, first aid measures and process regulations of production equipment.

2. Formulate safety protection measures

2.1 fire prevention and explosion-proof measures

The use of inflammable and explosive materials shall strictly comply with the operating procedures.

The laboratory shall comply with the fire code.

The storage of chemical reagents should be classified, and it is strictly forbidden to mix inflammable and explosive materials with combustion aids and oxidants. Water burning material should pay attention to waterproof, moisture. Toxic and harmful reagents must be managed by special personnel.

The existence and use of various cylinders used in the experiment shall strictly abide by the regulations.

Protective equipment and fire-fighting equipment shall be maintained and maintained by special personnel to ensure good use.

All kinds of instruments and electrical equipment should be checked frequently. Prevent electric shock accidents and electrical fire accidents.

2.2 anti-poisoning measures

To understand the process flow of the production device, standardize the sampling port, and prevent poisoning accidents in the sampling process;

Strengthen the management of toxic and hazardous substances, especially highly toxic substances, by assigning special personnel to keep them, strictly distribute them, and properly dispose of wastes;

The laboratory should strengthen ventilation, and the analysis of toxic and harmful substances should be carried out in a closed fume hood;

Establishment of poison registration files and poison information cards to enable staff to understand the nature of the poison and first aid measures;

Staff should pay attention to personal hygiene, observe personal protection rules and wear protective articles;

It is strictly forbidden to eat in the laboratory, and it is strictly forbidden to store food in the laboratory refrigerator.

2.3 anti-corrosion measures

The storage of chemical reagents shall conform to the specifications, the drug warehouse shall be kept ventilated, the container shall be sealed, and acid and alkali shall not be mixed.

The laboratory that produces corrosive gas should have good ventilation and stay away from the laboratory with precision instruments.

Take and place corrosive reagents and samples to avoid splashing and burning the skin, damaging the equipment and clothing.

Acid and alkali waste liquid shall be discharged after treatment and cannot be directly poured into sewers.
