2014 National Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Center Director's Work Meeting Held Successfully

On April 2-3, 2014, the 2014 National Solid Waste and Chemical Management Center Director's Work Meeting was held in Shanghai. About 100 representatives from provincial and some sub-provincial municipal solid waste and chemical management agencies, environmental protection supervision centers, Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau and well-known enterprises attended the meeting. Director Ling Jiang of the Solid Waste and Chemical Management Technology Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Commissioner Zhou Ruohui of the Supervision Bureau of the Disciplinary Inspection Team of the Ministry, and Deputy Director Li Lei of the Pollution Prevention Department attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Wu Qizhou, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, delivered a speech at the meeting. This meeting is the first national working meeting held after the establishment of the Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Technology Center. The convening of the meeting is of great significance to further improve the level of solid waste and chemicals environmental management.
Director Ling Jiang reviewed the main work of the National Solid Management Center in 2013, conveyed a series of important deployments made by the Party Central Committee and the State Council for environmental protection, and analyzed the current situation; pointed out that the focus of environmental protection work in the future will focus on three "Ten Articles" are carried out, and the prevention and control of solid waste and chemical pollution is an important part of the three "Ten Articles; it is also proposed that in the next step, efforts should be made in six aspects: strategic research, system construction, mobilization of social forces, market mechanism, basic research and clean government construction, so as to promote the environmental management of solid waste and chemicals to a new level.
Deputy Director Li Lei arranged the key work in 2014, that is, to open a national meeting on the prevention and control of solid waste, chemicals and heavy metal pollution, to promote the implementation of three special plans for hazardous waste, persistent organic pollutants and chemicals, to implement the regulations on the Administration of the Recycling and treatment of waste Electrical and Electronic products, and to do a good job in the top-level design of site pollution prevention, mercury pollution prevention and overall planning of environmental management of renewable resources at home and abroad, to carry out the national solid waste field approval audit special inspection.
Through the analysis of corruption cases, Commissioner Zhou Ruohui put forward the requirements of clean government for the administrative approval and supervision of solid waste and chemical management, and held discussions with some provincial and municipal solid management centers to exchange and study the construction of clean government in the field of solid waste and chemical environmental management.
