Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration issued the first "Guidelines for the Waterway Transport of Lithium Battery Dangerous Goods in Shanghai Port"

Today, the Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration issued the country's first "Shanghai Port Lithium Battery Dangerous Goods Waterway Transport Guide." The Guide provides guidance for regulating the transportation behavior of lithium batteries in the industry and reducing the risk of lithium battery cargo transportation in Shanghai Port.

The Guide is based on the relevant United Nations conventions on the transport of dangerous goods, safety guidelines for electric vehicles at home and abroad and domestic technical standards, and clarifies the classification standards for lithium battery goods and the overall inspection requirements for containerized lithium battery energy storage systems. It provides a quick query tool for enterprise safety and compliance transportation, and standardizes the packing behavior of lithium battery electric vehicles with "one box and multiple vehicles.

In order to regulate the transportation of lithium batteries in Shanghai Port and reduce the risks of lithium battery transportation, the Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration has compiled the "Guidelines for the Waterway Transportation of Dangerous Goods of Lithium Batteries in Shanghai Port" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guidelines") in accordance with relevant international conventions, laws and regulations and technical standards. The safety technical requirements for the classification, packaging, packing, transportation and emergency of lithium battery dangerous goods carried by containers are summarized and sorted out, it aims to provide concise guidance to the units and individuals in the lithium battery production, sales and transportation industry chain, so as to carry out the water transportation of lithium batteries in a safe and compliant manner.

Due to the frequent changes in the rules of lithium battery water transportation, the user is specially reminded that when carrying out lithium battery water transportation, please comply with the latest conventions and laws and regulations. The Guide will also be updated in due course.
