South Korea plans to start revising the CSA and CSA in 2023
Release time:
2022-06-09 16:52
Recently, the South Korea Minister of the Environment announced that he would promote the improvement of the Chemical Assessment Law (Chemical Substances Registration and Evaluation Law) and the Chemical Management Law (Chemical Management Law). The minister also said that the current regulations that are constantly being criticized by the business community are far from realistic expectations. The Ministry of South Korea Environment will rationalize the regulations by applying unified regulations instead of just considering the toxicity of chemical substances.
"We will consider the characteristics and handling capacity of each substance, distinguish the designation and management system of hazardous chemicals, and no longer centralize the management of highly toxic substances," the South Korea Minister of environment said at the MKGC(MK Global Company) forum hosted by the daily economic daily at the Central Plaza Hotel in Seoul on June 2 ". Minister Han said, "In the past, South Korea environmental regulations were command-and-control oriented, but in the future, these regulations will help us achieve autonomy and creativity. In addition, improving the chemicals management system is also included in the 110 national tasks of the new South Korea government. The time period for the implementation of differentiated management is proposed in the national mandate for 2024, so the (South Korea) Ministry of the Environment plans to start revising the relevant acts next year ".
The South Korea business community is looking forward to the government's reform of the regulation of chemical substances. A staff member from the South Korea Employers Federation said: "Companies have been complaining about the current regulations on chemical substances.
An official from the South Korea Ministry of Environment explained: "The Ministry of Environment, civil society and enterprises will gather together to propose reasonable amendments.
